should i buy a 250cc bike or a restricted 600cc bike?

why would you want to buy a bike and restrict it? that's like choking your throat and suffocating the engine.

you should use the whole 600cc if you get that bike.
 
I'm wondering whether buying a restricted 600cc bike would be pointless because of the extra weight its pulling around or buying a 250cc bike that is lighter and doesn't have any extra weight to slow it down.
 
I don't know where you are from, but why would the bike be restricted? It seems any bike that has been modified can be unmodified. If it's a 600cc that is restricted because of your age or something then buy it anyway. It's probably still a lot better than the 250cc bike and you will not get blown off the highway as easily. Plus when you get older you can unrestrict it and have a full 600cc motorcycle. That 250 ain't going to get it done dood.

250cc motorcycles suck for anything other than off road or city streets. Once you get going about 70 miles per hour on the open highway the wind will kill you, restrict you, bum you out, or blow you off the lane.
 
250 bikes usually have power rating between 20 to 35 hp. Which is good for about 80 mph and up. 250 scooters may be a little slower. Excellent choice for in city and occasional highway riding. Lighter and more economical and cheaper maintenance than a 600. I am guessing you are new to bikes and a 250 would make an excellent starter bike. Go with the 250. When you outgrow, you get your unrestricted 600 (or bigger). Any high quality bike will be more fun than you might expect regardless of the engine size. I have four bikes with various (50cc, 150cc and 2 of 1200cc) engines. I enjoy them all and actually I ride the 50cc and 150cc the most.
 
depends. Commuter, recreational? Long distance? If you plan on staying local, 250cc is good. And great for recreational use. Beyond that the 600.
