I'm considering buying this car for 200 dollars cash:
Up for sale is a 1979 Dodge Colt 2dr hatchback. 1.6L 4 cylinder with power economy shift (like an eight speed)
Only has five digits on the odometer, currently displays 9x,xxx. My Grandpa who had the car originally says those are it's original miles, this is also what the title indicates.. The interior on this car needs some work. There is no radio and no headliner. I do have the headliner but you would have to use it as a template. Mechanically the car runs great with the exception of a worn starter. Car does start every time though!!
The good:
The radiator was just re-done and free of any leaks.
Brand new front brake rotors
Brand new CV axles
Brand new alternator
Runner, was re-built 20K miles ago.
Nice custom olive drab paint job (easy to fix)
A to B, or potential sleeper.
The bad:
Starter could use a replacement. Takes a go-round or two to find the sweet spot (easy fix).
Windshield cracked bad. (drove it this way for over a year(you'll be fine))
No radio / interior needs tlc
Moon roof leaks, there is some moisture in the car. (easy fix)
Needs new tires soon.
I just want it so I can have something to learn stick shift on, and as a fun little side project. I would only use it to commute about 5-10 miles a day on local road ( and about 1 mile of highway, just one exit). Is it a good buy/ will it be safe? Thanks!
