My sister went to our parents' house yesterday; we spoke around 4pm, and she was tired and had gone to bed there. She was supposed to call me to say whether she would come back to our place or stay at our parents' over night.
I called at around 7-8 pm to confirm, but the phone company said the line was busy. I still called and called until about 1 am: the phone line is was still busy. I called now at around 4:20 am: still busy.
There's no way anyone there would be talking that long on the phone!!
Also, I thought she could have used their cell to call me, had there been a phone malfunction, but nothing.
As stupid as it sounds, I don't even know their my parents' cell number (though we're very close), so that I could have tried calling them there myself.
I'll go visit them around 6-7am for sure if the line doesn't clear up, but... what could be causing this?

They never take the phone off the hook.
