...couple of things fixed so I? took it back to the altima dealership, one of the things i wanted check was the radiator because I was smelling a burning like smell sometimes when I parked after driving (also a few weeks before I went to the dealership when I was having my usual oil change and vechicle check I was told I needed a radiator hose). the mechanic was doing the usual looking under the hood to see if he saw any problems first before they performed the dianogstic test he saw that radiator fluid was leaking out, so they did the dianogstic test, fix the problems and he informed me that the radiator was just loose and only needed tighten, which they did ( the same day I had my oil changed and vechicle check and was told everything was fine I didnt need anythig). so fast forward a couple days I still smell the burning like smell I had my friend who also is a mechanic check it out he said there was nothing wrong with it. could it just be that I am still smelling the burning smell because it had leaked out or is there a possibility that something is wrong?

Keep an eye on the radiator and engine oil fluid levels and see if the smell eventually burns off. Raise the hood after parking the car once in awhile to make sure everything looks dry.

There may be residual fluid on the engine or frame of the vehicle. 3 choices, 1. Give it time to burn off, 2. drive down a dusty dirt road, 3. Take it a car wash, spray engine down with degreaser, then spray off engine with water. I hope this helps.

It sounds like left over oil or anti freeze spilled on the motor or exhaust. Especially if you see any smoke or steam. Anti Freeze has a sickly sweet smell, and oil a bit stronger and bitter.

When your car has been parked awhile, when you walk up to it peek underneath and see if any wet fluid is on the ground. Green is Anti Freeze, Golden or Black is Oil, Red is Transmission Fluid.

Stop by the local do it yourself car wash. Leave the motor running, and use the engine or tire cleaner setting and wash the motor all over, especially where the hot exhaust comes out.....You'll know it when the water hits it and steam goes everywhere. You can use the high pressure setting, just don't blast it into the air intake or air filter area, and take care around the distributor cap (The thing with the big black wires coming out). Be sure to rinse the soap and engine cleaner off after washing the motor. If you have a lot of grease and oil, stop by the local Walmart or Auto Parts store for a can of Engine Degreaser. Spray it on the dirty motor and let it soak for about ten minutes before cleaner the motor. This works great for cleaning white letter or whitewall tires too.

Cleaning the motor with the oils, dirt, grease, etc. should stop the smell more quickly.

Sometimes stuff drips down on the exhaust from the motor or transmission if you have a leak. Keep things clean, helps to find any new or existing oil or anti freeze leaks.
