Should I apply for a job as a cook?

I have several years of waitressing/bussing experience...for the last 7 years I have been a stay at home mom (home-maker). I need a job to provide a second income. Of course I have some cooking experience, being a mom & wife, but not any professional experience. Would I be in over my head if I applied as a cook at a small restaurant? Rubios mexican grill is hiring cooks where I live, that's why I'm asking. Any other ideas? I want something that will be worth my time & energy...in other words, I really don't want a job at Mc Donalds, lol. Nothing against McD's...that was my first job (when I was 16). I just need something more than minimum wage now. I don't have a degree, just plenty of customer service experience. I can multi-task, learn fast & get along with people. Anyone have experince as a cook? Any advice??

Thank you for your thoughts & ideas...no rude coments please :)
