They make as much noise as a jet engine: gives a power buzz to riders who must have an inferiority complex, but this is noise pollution at its worst. Why can't they fit them with proper mufflers?

Are you sure you're not Magz? That sounds like a question he'd ask just to get everyone riled up.

First off, wise up. Do you really think every loud bike out there is a Harley? Come on now! There's plenty of Japanese Harley-look-alikes these days and their riders like to put on loud pipes as well because they too like the obnoxious noise they make. Do you really think Cobra or Vance & Hines would go broke if Harley riders stopped buying their aftermarket pipes? Certainly not because most of their business is for other brands of bikes and other types, like sportbikes.

Speaking of sportbikes, have you ever listended to the noise they make? Or those stupid little Japanese cars with the fart can exhaust? Or the homie-wanna-be's who think they need to make everyone in a 10 block radius aware of their lousy taste in music.

If your question was in jest, good job. If not, open your eyes, grow up and wise up.

Talk about name recognition!

There are many different makes and models on the road.
ALL will make more noise if the exhaust is modified.
Harley Davidsons not only come from the factory with with exhausts that meet EPA noise regulations, they are now made so that they are difficult (and VERY expensive) to modify.

Get your facts straight, it will go a long way towards solving your problem.

No, But i understand your frustration...

flag slathered, trend-humping lemmings chop their exhausts off to conform to the mantra "loud pipes save lives" when the data actually provides evidence to the contrary.

look up sheilds, he's brilliant

No they shouldn't be banned but the police need to either push there noise restrictions on everyone, or on no one at all. They seem very selective with the vehicles they defect. (they pick on the sports bikes instead) I think in my country they leave the Harley boys alone because there is a specific task force set up to deal with bikie gangs and I assume that the traffic police have been told to stay away from Harley riders, as not to interfere with ongoing investigations. I was pulled over at a defect station on my '07 gsxr and they did me for not having a rear reflector (although a number plate is a reflector in itself), I sat there for two hours watching them work over every sports bike that came through, they let countless loud as Harleys go by, and I think it must be because they have been told to stay away by higher authority. I don't think Harleys sound good but I feel like buying one taking the pipes off and sticking it to the cops, I'm sick of being hassled!

like the bumbble bee crotch rokets dont annoy anyone
if harleys are to loud where you live then move dumb aaassss

yes they should be..they're loud, big, ugly and way too overrated.
they should trade them for pretty sportsbikes.

death to harley I say!!!

If the loud pipe attention seekers are so concerned with safety why do you never see a guy riding a harley with loud pipes wearing one of the reflective vests?

There needs to be strict noise standards and decent enforcement, especially for Harleys.

welcome back joe, I see doctor b let you out of your straight jacket long enough to type a few questions.
or are you still wearing it & typing with your nose?
I was kind of hoping you had died.
trucks with jake brakes & any annoying buzz bomb bike that turns over 7000 rpm should be eliminated. not those beautifully mellow sounding v twin's

WTF??? Maybe you feel a bit intimidated by Harley Riders? I DON'T own a Harley and think most Owner / Riders look like try hard wankers frankly! But I think it a ridiculous suggestion to ban such an iconic motorcycle! Obviously the new bikes coming off the production line are compliant with regulations, and the older ones made to comply by laws passed for obvious reasons. If it dosen't comply then it doesn't grt registered! (At least where I'm from). The problem lies with thwe wankers that mod their bikes way outta reg spec "After" it has been registered! These people are often also the ones committing idiot acts on the road, Thus giving all riders a bad image! So, They ain't gonna ban harleys, and you can't stop Wankers from owning them! I guess your best bet is to buy a tent and move to Siberia!
