Should Government Be The End-All To Society's Problems?

Folks, those of us who espouse Conservatism are concerned about the alarming overreach of the current administration. Now, don't get me wrong, we were highly critical of the last administration's expansion as well. Be that as it may, the question remains, with a program for this, and an entitlement for that, is government truly the end-all-be-all to society's problems??

Whoops! Forgot to add a poll to this thread as well :emb:

Agreed. What business does government have in all of the social and corporate welfare spending that are clearly unconstitutional??

Govt. is a necessary evil. But the current incarnation of the govt. is leaning more toward evil and away from necessary. We have the Speaker saying "don't ask me questions on that subject" and the press respecting that. We have the banking committee chair shouting for the heaRAB of people who got bonuses at AIG and then we find out he took out the prohibition on bonuses. "OUR" govt. is no longer in the hanRAB of the people. The constitution is no longer respected. We must remove the power from the hanRAB of the politicians and reign in the scope of govt.

Government cannot solve our problems...government is the problem. Freedom to say what you please and to do what you please within the bounRAB of individual respect is something that ideally comes with no government. If the entire population had respect for the rights of others, there would be no need for a formal government. It is when the power freaks try to rule the meek by force that a government becomes necessary to protect the people from those that would take away their freedom. As with any type of controlling entity, some freedoms are lost.

You do realize it has been like this for at least three decades if not longer no?

Furthermore, both parties no longer respect the Constitution and both see big government as a perk.

society = and organization of humans... under common rules.

A government, has always existed, even when it was the biggest man forcing his will.

The government, indeed, is the cause of most of the problems.
therefore, the government is the only means to fix those same problems.

The question as asked, would suggest that we would need something other than a government... to fix things.

when in truth... ALL WE NEED TO DO IS FIX THE GOVERNMENT.

I am running an exploratory committee to try and do just that.

you are all welcome to help if you feel inclined... God knows I'll need it.

water is the solution to a buring house.

It is also the solution to most of the problems of earth.

Adequate supplies of cheap virtually free water, is the life blood of the earth.

Its supply is fundamental, and its flow and proper control can solve for most of the worlRAB major problems.
