Should Fraser return to Taggart?

His character has just disappeared of screen ,no mention of why or where the character has gone.Maybe they should bring him back-I think he was integral and robbie or burke should have been axed instead

I wouldn't axe Burke, as he is like a latterday Jim Taggart, but Fraser neeRAB to return. However, maybe he has had enough of the show, in the same way Jardine was axed when the actor had done enough.
However, I still miss Gemma the forensics expert.

No he was definitely axed the actor never choose to leave-hes devasted.Would Robbie have been a better axing?I think Jackie Reid and Stuart are unaxeable for the foreseeable future and to do so is error

A shame, but Robbie has more sex appeal than Fraser to some of the more devoted Taggies, even if the character is more interesting( a gay detective played by a straight man). However, it is a shame as I really liked him.

This is shocking. The guy has been there longer than Burke and Ross, and it's hard to imagine Taggart without him.
Reading about it reminRAB me off when Graham Cole was so callously sacked from The Bill. I'll miss him.

I'm gutted he's not in it anymore :( it just doesn't seem the same without him. I always liked how there was the four of them so they paired off. Stuart worked well with robbie, often a lot of comedy came from them, but he worked well with jackie and Burke too. If they had to axe someone for me it should have been robbie. I know he is seen as the sexy one (though not to my taste) but I feel he is the least attached one to the show. Sorry I know what I want say but can't word it. I don't feel he is core to the show?

I agree with you sheepiestar -robbie seemed the most surplus to the show if they felt they needed to axe somebody to make way for new characters

I must be quite a way behind, because he was in the last episode I saw:confused:
What a shame if he's been axed - it makes no sense as he was a key member of the team:(

I'm not happy with a lot if the changes since itv got involved. It seems to have lost a lot of the features that separated it from other dramas shown on itv/stv. It seems more glossy and isn't as Scottish as it was. It feels like it is being made to fit in with other detective shows itv make. I also miss Gemma from forensics, that new boy is right boring

The programme seems rushed in its one hour slot and it's nowhere near as good as it was. Perhaps ITV would love to drop it as part of their disagreements with STV, but know it's popular in England. However, sacking cast members and cutting the length of the episodes will ruin it.

Apparantly he was sacked by a phone call from the producers. They havent even given him a leaving story or mentioned him at all in the new series which I think is really poor and disrespectful for the length of time his character was in the show.

It's just horrid to not even give him any sort of exit.
Are fans of the show expected to just accept that he's disappeared? All of the previous main characters got cracking exits. I hate ITV sometimes, I really do.

James MacPherson or Jardine was not axed from Taggart he left for health reasons. He lives in London and his lung collapsed on a flight to Glasgow.

Neil Duncan and James Macpherson had a crossover episode to introduce Jardine and say goodbye to Peter Livingston in which both characters hated one and other. The chemistry between the actors on that one episode was so popular Neil Duncan made a guest appearance a few years later.

There is talk STV are considering having Stuarts body found during an investigation in a future episode. Cue the flashbacks or even some new scenes featuring the actor. I think we may see him again in the future.:) he is the second longest running character in the show and gained huge popularity at a time when Mark McManus had sadly passed. He deserves a farewell episode.

Like a lot of what you say about Stv, your facts are not always facts. James MacPherson lives in Glasgow and his lung collapsed on a flight to London.
Also don't always believe what Stv say. The reason James gave for leaving was a health scare but I think you'll find he was axed.
At least he was shown a degree of respect and his character given a suitable exit.
Like a lot of Stv's current decisions, Fraser's exit was not thought through. Do you honestly think after how this actor was treated he'd go back to Taggart and let them kill him?
Just look at what Blythe Duff thinks about this:

Taggart is (and quite rightly too) a Scottish if not a National instituition! Having watched it since day 1 when it was a studio production with filmed inserts to a pure filmed and edited end product for the network. However, I feel a few years ago it lost its way with repetative storylines and heading towarRAB a acting style that at times could be farcical!! So I stopped watching it.
The new series is now shot "electronically" in HD and reduced to 1 hour episodes. Looks good but all too rushed and loose end tied up too quickly. The first episode a few weeks ago was just too contrived for me! So no more for me! Pity!
Mind you it hs provided work for virtually every actor in Scotland and a good deal in the rest of the Uk as well!! A friend of mine was an extra a few years ago for 3 days - living and then a dead body of the slab!!! Got a good
