Should Christians who are in financial difficulty ask the church to help ?

I have a brother who is a Christian who is constantly in financial difficulty bcos he has a large family to feed. His church requires him to give 10% of his salary as tithes. However, it bothers me a lot that he always approaches me (I am a pantheist) to help him whenever he needs financial assistance. Why can't his so called Christian brothers and sisters help him out instead ? Or are these so called church going people just for show ? After many rounds of helping my brother out, I finally told him to stop tithing bcos it is foolish to give money to his so called god (via church) and then come to me for financial assistance since I think his church is so damn rich. He told me his pastor tells him that to stop tithing is to rob god. I think my brother is being conned by his church. Christians, isn't it immoral to ask the poor to tithe ?

Isn't it immoral to ask the poor to pay taxes? You rant and rave about the tiny ten per cent God asks for, but you support corrupt government taking half our money. HYPOCRITE!

It is the only way you will ever get anything back out of a church. That's assuming you get anything back and that is a very large assumption.

A church that requires a man to tithe misses the entire point of tithing, he should find another church.

A man who cannot control his finances is not following God's Word correctly. He does not need to be coming to you for money.
