Should a girl still try to keep talking to a boy if he says she is to good for him?

This boy I like we were talking and stuff and he said he likes me but he just wants to be friends and we can't date because he says he is a player and he does girls wrong all the time and he doesn't want to do that to me or hurt me or break my heart. but now he won't even txt me anymore :(should I keep talking to this boy?
