Short Circuit discussion

would they still be puppets like the first 2 films or will they just be another load of CGI creatures like Monsters Inc. etc..

a sequel to Short Circuit would be better than a remake, it would be nice to catch up with Johnny 5 after the event of SC2, for one thing he would be Gold!

Woah, reading some of those links it seems this remake could actually happen, I thought it was just a joke. And it says the guy who voiced Number 5 would return, but they doubt it'll be a sequel, a 'reimagining' as they like to say.

I think the main problem is they just can't make FUN films like this anymore, or at least very rarely.

No they so better not remake this film. I just found out they made a Save the last dance 2. Which is bad enough but Johnny 5 cannot be remade. It would be crap.

Damn I loved the Short Circuit flicks, sure the original was funnier than the sequel, "No 5 is Alive" "Nice software" lmao still makes me laugh

Why oh why can't they just leave the classics alone. I loved these films as a little kid and now as a grown man I still love them.

Are you troubled by irregularity?

That's what's endearing about all those classic films that they seem so hell-bent on re-making.
I felt the same way about the re-release of ET, with the cgi faces - it makes you feel a bit cheated, as if ET was slightly less real.

I bet it will all be boring cgi effects propping up a poorer script than the original.

clunky robots and rubber gremlins seem much more realistic too me than CGI blue screen stuff that isnt there.I think the new starwars films would have been a lot better with less CGI.

For god sake spiderman 3 is almost like watching a cartoon in places.

I agree. CGI has got to be REALLY good to make it work. The recent WOTW was agood example of very convincing cgi, as was the 2nd Jurassic Park and King Kong. Other than those I can't think of many other films where the cgi hasn't looked just a little if not a lot cartoony.

A good example is the cantina scene in starwars, some of those puppets were pretty bad but at least you new that the actors were interacting with weird looking creatures,(hope that makes sense)

there are some good examples of CGI like the space battle at the begining of revenge of the sith.even scooby doo was pretty good.I dont think seeing someone like ben stiller interact with a CGI johny 5 would be the same.

that said,is it just because we wear rose tinted specs thinking back to childhood movies? Will our kiRAB be saying the same thing about things not matching up too CGI in 30 years?
