shop online or in store???

so about a month ago or longer... my wife and i decided that we were going to switch to cricket. that time has finally come today. i was looking at crickets main website for some deals. here's the catch if i bought phones online from there site.
"Automatic Bill Payment. You will automatically be signed up for Automatic Bill Payment ("ABP") with any Cricket plan purchased on the web. You may elect not to sign up for ABP by purchasing Cricket from a Cricket store or authorized dealer. With ABP, your credit card will be charged automatically every month. ABP takes some time to set up, so ABP may not be active for the first bill, and you may have to make your first months payment using another of Cricket's convenient payment options."
that kinda sux. is there an option down to get out of "ABP"? has anyone done this? also do i have to activate these phones if i buy online vs activating in store?
 
Here's my thoughts:

Buying online advantages:

Usually better prices online.
No waiting in huge lines at the store.
Phone requires a simple call to activate and program when you receive it.

Buying in store advantages:

you get your phone immediately
billing options (personally, I prefer they take it out of my checking account.. it's just simpler)


As for changing your billing, I believe it's a simple call to customer service to cancel the autobill, but I don't know if there's a charge for it.
 
They charge for EVERYTHING. They even charge you a fee when you switch to a MORE expensive plan.

i'm actually shocked to hear they don't charge for cancelling automatic billing
 
As a sidenote to one upside in paying / buying in store, If you elect to pay with cash there is no ABP. and as a sidenote there is no charge to get out of ABP. Or to opt in.
 
Schedule of fees:

Activation with a new Cricket Phone: $10
Activation without a new Cricket Phone: $15
Rate plan change*: $15 (There is no charge for feature changes, only if you change plans)
Phone nuraber change: $15

The service fees are part of the service structure Cricket has, and help to fund for Cricket to add all the nice features everyone wants on their service (data, more coverage areas, etc...)
 
the slvr is probably the best value available on a cricket phone. it's not the cheapest (duh..) and it's not the bestest features.. but dollar for features (and form factor) it is an excelent value.. yes i know the remix was the same price, but i'll take a moto any day of the week over krapocera.
 
thx again guys. we really like the slvr's we got. one feature not many ppl are aware of that is does in fact sport a 1.3 megapixl camera. one thing i dont like so far is the wap browser on cricket. i wish i could bypass it to surf what ever i like. the young girl who took care of us with our purchase was very nice and answered all our questions. over all, were very happy to be apart of cricket.
 
so the wife and i did it today, were in cricket! we got 2 moto slvr's and the $50 plan. we also got a $50 mail in refund per phone and a $5 discount for a 2nd line. overall were happy and really happy with all the unlimited stuff. my wife already has been flappin the gums on the phone all day lol. i feel i made a good choice.
 
nope. it's only a vga camera I promise. they use the same firmare as the KRZR, which does have a 1.3 mega pixel tho, and the 1.3 megapixel setting was not disabled on the SLVR firmware!! this has been discussed and cricket is aware of the problem... although i am surprised that moto/cricket has not fixed it yet. pictures taken on the 1.3 MP setting will come out thurabnail sized.

It'll re-format the webpage (Taking out CSS, Most large images etc) and then pass it to your phone. I've tried it on my RAZR, W370, W315 and it worked fine. So it *should* work on the SLVR. (Be very sure to mind the forward slash's. If you don't you'll get a 403 Forbidden)
