i put my mountain bike in to have the bearings renewed, however the shop has just phoned me to tell me that the bolt has snapped off inside my frame, this renders my frame useless.. He said that he will soak it overnight to try to remove it but it is unlikely. He then went on to say that it looks as if some one had sawn the bolt in halve! The only time that this bolt has ever been out of the frame is the last time that they serviced the bearings!
Please can anyone help me i dont know how to go about this. It is not a cheap bike. Im heartbroken it is my pride and joy.
Hi Edward thank you for your reply. Well here goes.
It is a 2007 Scott Spark 20, RRP: 2,800 pounds.
The bearings where to be replaced in the rocker.
I think what the mechanic was saying is that the bearing axle has snapped in my frame and he can't remove it from the frame. However he may also have meant that he has sheared the bolt.
iI'm so sorry for being a bit sketchy about these details but i'm not to sure when it comes to these things, thats why i take my bike to the shop.
The bearings were replaced by the same shop 5 months ago and i always use this shop and dont do any maintenance on my bike myself and they know this.
Thanks again for your help
