Shonen Jump Febuary 2010 Issue TalkBack

SJ is officially down to 4 series next month. No previews, showcase chapters, or new series. Just the big 3 shonen manga and the Stan Lee manga. I'm losing hope.

On the bright side, this issue has Luffy on the cover, the beginning of the Marineford arc (although SJ still calls it the Impel Down arc), chapters 549-552, a 6-page "Pirate Exam" from the profile book (the last one of those, too), and another interview with Oda.

I see why they're slimming down on series - I mean, they have a pretty consistent four chapters (never really less than three... I think...) of One Piece and Naruto, with a healthy dose of Bleach on top. But they DEFINITELY need to add another smaller manga or two.

I'm pulling for Bakuman and Gintama, myself, as I said in the other threat. Bakuman is fantastic AND is a rare series about "normal" people, while Gintama fills the comedy niche that's been missing since Bo-Bobo was dropped.

And ohmigod it's so the most epic thing ever and I can see why everyone was so hyped for it to be animated and such. SO cool. Can't wait to see where it goes.

Perhaps this is for the best, at least for now.

IMO, if the big 3 get 4 chapters each per month, we'll be keeping pace with japan, and that would be a good idea.

1/2 Ultimo + 4 ch. each of B/O/N + 1 ch. manga preview page sounRAB like a good idea until the economy picks up.

Maybe Vi should try liscencing some Manhua(Chinese manga)? The art style is pretty much identical to anime and china seems to be "the new Japan" from a lot of things.

Bakuman as a serialized manga would round things out very nicely.

Keeping Bakuman would be the best thing, but just because there are more chapters of what's in there, doesn't mean there should be only 4 series. There's no reason the issues should have to be this small. I just picked an older issue off the shelf with over 100 pages more than this one, and this is before they take Bakuman out.
