shoes for after lumbar surgery

Hi Blue, and Lorie. Where'd you find the swivel seat? Let me know. thanks for the info and the care from all of you verean back patients.lol
 
Thats the tricky part, as you know. I still can not put shoes on in any normal fashion. But, I did get shoes that had velcro vs. ties...that made a big difference. I also have a sock assistive device and a long handled shoe horn (both are a huge help!).

I also bought a pair of these interesting lace replacements. They are coiled as if they were wrapped around a pencil and then stayed in that coil shape. You lace your shoes with them vs. the reg. laces, and then you just pull them in order to tighten them and they stay. There is no tying anything. I jsut sit down and either use my dressing stick (like a smaller grabber) and pull the laces or I step on one lace and pull my foot away from it and then do the same thing on the other side of the shoe.

My swivel seat is made by Amerimark. It was $25, including shipping, and worth every penny! I can't twist at all, being fused from T4 to sacrum, so having this seat so I can turn just that little extra bit when backing up or at an odd angled intersection has been a huge help! It took a little practice leaning forward just enough to be able to turn the seat a little while driving, but once I got it down, it was wonderful. And of course, it also makes it easier to get in and out.
