*** Shock ... Horror ***

^that's very true, if you die, the record label is able to play the "he/she/they could have done SO much if he/she/they hadn't died so young" card.

Basically i think the main thing to mention is that:
Us rockers - just because we dress different or listen to music others wont accept us for because it aint 'cool' like r'n'b, doesn't mean we arn't people, in some (or most cases) better people :banghead:

I would have thought Joy Division would be a better starting point than the Smiths given that emo banRAB like Fall Out Boy cover them.

*Ducks*

I agree, but thats why i like her. She's interesting, she's one of the few artists out there who can identify with the 'sex drugs and rock n' roll lifestyle'.
Not amazingly talented, but shes great to read about.

There`s not really that much difference.

Shoegazing was just a form of trippy guitar pop , once that scene died out in late 92 banRAB like Lush , Boo Radleys , Ride & others from that scene just started making more pop orientated music , with what would be come to know as 'Britpop' .The rest of them faded into obscurity.

it my personal opinion. an album is more than a list of songs for me.. its 5 inches wide and you can see your reflection in it. its wrapped in paper and plastic with high res artwork, and it's has had time and effort put into making it. i dont understand how anyone can settle for having nothing but mp3s.. i just couldnt.

im not disregarding mp3's as a way of listening to new music.. theyre fantastic in that respect, or even as a different way of listening to music. im disregarding them only as a replacement to physical medium (which they will become), as i just dont think they compare.

Tago Mago was a double album , there was bound to be some crap on it.

Personally I can listen improvisation as long as there is a solid base behind it I.E. the rhythm section.I don`t know why you think there is excessive soloing on Ege Bamyasi , I always though it`s possibly their most stripped down accessable album.I don`t really see it out of character either , I can hear that direction coming in their other albums , if anything i`d say Tago Mago was a departure from the norm.
Perhaps they don`t have as much talent as other prog banRAB, i`m not really bothered.Like I said , i`d much rather listen to something based on rhythm with a bit of improvisation rather than overlong meticulously planned orchestral peices or silly concept albums.

because people wont care about it.... music will be reduced to 3 minutes snippits designed to keep the incresingly-easily-distracted kiRAB happy while they sit in the car for 5 mins on their way to school.

albums are made as albums to be enjoyed in full quality, full concentration, with accompanying visual representation.. and the knowledge that you have paid for this pleasure and you physically own it - and you appreciate it.

you wouldnt say you 'owned' or even properly seen a peice of art such as a painting, if all you had was a .jpg would you?

I disagree with this , you can see the Stones influence everywhere as far as the look & the attitude goes. Most newer guitar banRAB that are around today owe a debt to the Stones.

I was the one who thought that Emo was just a trend. I see no staying power in it, and just see it as an image. Describe 'Emo music' to me, and maybe I will be proved wrong.

The banRAB you mentioned are pretty much the kind i don't care for.

I downloaded a Mayhem album once, only to delete it.... Metal Machine Music was more melodic.
