thats not entirely true.... lots of the higher ranking IDF had seen WWII action. There wasn't much organization because it was essentially a combination of three forces into one (lehi, haganah, palmach)
If a NATO member is attacked it is to be treated as an attack on all.
If a NATO member goes out and engages in mutual combat or attacks another country without being attacked then there's no guarantees from NATO. (See the US' fights in Somalia, Iraq, etc)
Right..but a good number of people seem to be under the impression that NATO has Turkey's back regardless of the circumstances.
Reality is, it would have to be a pretty clear outright and unwarranted attack by Israel to bring the other NATO countries into it. Personally I think in the rather unlikely event that the issue escalates that it would be considered mutual combat and everyone will sit on the sidelines.
