shipping my bike

Can anyone recommend a shipping company that they had good results? Most disappointment I have with the quotes that I have received is the delay in receiving, was quoted 3-4 weeks. New Mexico to New Orleans, LA.

Try www.forwardair.com , they have special bike crates where you just load your bike into it at their terminal and pull it out at the receiving terminal and they are pretty quick with moving the cargo. You will move it into the crate ( fully enclosed steel crate), tie it up and lock the crate with your own lock and you keep the key

can i add a suggestion?
we do this all the time.......see your dealer, ask them what they do with the ducati crates from italy. We end up taking most of ours to the tip, which is an incredible waste....
if ever the opportunity arises i like to give them away...rather than just throw them out.

And the guys in the workshop will prep, load and tie down the bike for a small fee.
Shop has a forklift, and transport that regularly delivers the bikes in the crates, so we have turn around facility for the outgoing machine. We just leave the end details (delivery point)to the customer.
It really is not a bother, as long as things are organized well beforehand. Bikes come in and out all the time at bikeshop.
Perhaps you could ship bike dealership to dealership (state to state)and have your bike PD'd (unloaded and fluids refilled)on its arrival......so its ready for you and you can just ride away.
Maybe you could give your dealer a shout, find out the logistics of their bike freighters and see what they have to offer you!!?? just a thought!
I know that if i wanted to ship 'whitey' anywhere, i would prefer her to be in the hands of ducati techs
cheers

agree with the above

have a dealer pack it in an original crate before shipping anywhere. that's what i did, and she arrived in perfect shape. i even had it delivered to a local dealer, who was able to handle the delivery and set her back up for me.

it was a Honda, but even though i hadn't purchased a bike from either dealer they were happy to help. they each charged me a few $$ and nothing for the box, because they throw them out otherwise. actually, the receiving end didn't charge me anything, cuz I hooked the svc mgr up with a bookie. the irony is i don't gamble. i'm a cheap-ass. but it worked out good knowing people that do I guess!

Get a quote from Daily Direct. They only ship bikes and have numerous trucks running around North America. As to a schedule it all depends on where a truck is versus when you want the bike picked up and delivered.

As you are not shipping overseas, no crating is needed with this company.

Daily Direct was the one that wanted to ship it 3-4 weeks. I'm pretty excited about getting the bike, so I don't really want to wait. I decided to give Forward Air a shot. I should get it in about two weeks. thanks for everyone's ideas.

My experience with them shipping my MV Agusta Senna from NY to Texas was superb. No draining gas, oil, or disconnecting the battery. Door to door service without a residential fee. And on top, they were the most affordable at $600.

Very specialized truck, tracking information, and ultra fast delivery time (about one week earlier than quoted).

I will use them again in the future. Talk to Steve @ http://www.shop.bevelheaven.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=55

He is an acting agent and will make the process very easy. Tell him Carlos with the MV Senna from Texas sent ya...

Good luck.
