shipping a car over seas?

ok im looking at a car, the nissan skyline r34 as my first car. but the only ones i can afford (assuming the dollar/pound ratio stays steady) are in europe. so i want to ship it overseas, but i heard the united states has some ridiculous law that forbids any cars being shiped over seas must be at least 15 years old.

1. is this a real law?

2. if so how can i ship my car privately over seas?
