shifter linkage

04 ultra my shifter linkage comes apart happen twice put it together first time tighten it all down 800 miles later running down the thruway can't shift. It seems all i can do is put back together tighten it all down and hope for the best unless someone out here can let me know if this is a common problem and if there is fix for it

same thing happen on my 09. Upgrade the rod, make sure the upgrade has good ends.

Happened on my bike around 15k miles. Replaced it with one with heim joints.

Are you using loctite/threadlocker when you reassemble?

Loctite is a harley owners friend! Use it.

I have never had a problem.Heim joints,double nuted with loctite.

Heim joints if you don't want to pay $$ .

From what I understand there is also a replacement rod that is larger then the factory, mine has the larger rod, and I have nad no problems with it, neither has the previous owner, but I don't know if it is less expencive then the heim jointed ones, if I where going to replace mine I would look at the heim jointed ones, they look pretty fool proof to me.

I loctite any bolt that I loosen. Cheap insurance to make sure the bolts don't come loose.
