Shawn Of The Dead

Best use of Queen in a film! (and best use of a Dire Straits LP) :D

I loved it, you can't argue with a film that has comedy, violence, romance, gore, zombies, heartache, fart jokes, the marvellous Simon Pegg and much more.... had me in stitches!

It was really funny at the start, but ot a little more serious halfway through when they escaped to the pub. It started to remind me of the league of gentlemen from that point for some reason.

I personally think the most valid criticism was that the film never recovered from the serious scenes. The final couple of scenes seemed as if they had suffered a butchery in the editing suite, leading it to seem rather unsatisfactorily and stunted by the credits.

I also thought Dylan Moran and Lucy Davis' characters didn't quite work and felt they could have developed the character of Liz more, but they are minor quibbles.

Dunno why theres this gripe that it "wasn't as funny as expected", if you watch the interviews or read up on the net regarding the movie, it wasn't intended as an all out comedy, the movies not a parody on the horror genre, its a homage to it with some black humour etc thrown in quite in the same way it was done with various other films, american werewolf in london, to name but one... :D
