Shaun of the Dead DVD

wow this dvd is so good! Some of the extras in it are absolutly hillarious! And theres loaRAB of them.

Theres about 10 minutes of outtakes, and 10 minutes of extra bits. Also included are comic-style plotholes which explain what happened to Shaun when he led away the zombies from the Winchester, and how he got Ed from the cellar to his shed. Some parts in these made me and my friend both *really* laugh out loud. I wont spoil it though.

Theres also some cool mini-documentrys made by the stars of the film as they film behind the scenes of the movie. There are so many extras packed onto one dvd its nuts.

Anyone else got it? I havent watched all of the extras yet but its promising so far!

The Yanks don't know what they're missing. Although whether they will get the joke is debatable.

Are companies allowed to send DVD's out earlier than the release? I remember there was one hell of a fuss when some stores stocked the standard release of LOTR:Two Towers several days early.

The music distribution companies can be strict. Years ago, Asda put the Prodigy's Fat of the Land on the shelves on day early (by accident) and got hammered for it.

I think the mail order companies may get away with it as they are "intending" for it to arrive at your house on the day of release....but often you get it early...but not in my case thanks to cdwow....ill be getting it a week late!

shaun of the dead is the best ever dvd! so many extras, its brilliant. i remember when lord of the rings came out a few days early, all companys get is a smallish fine and a slap on the wrist

I can't believe how many extras there are on just one DVD...brilliant! :)

Just shows that those 2-Disc 'Collectors editions' every single film seems to get these days are probably quite unecessary in some cases.

Shaun of the Dead: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365748/business

Not exactly a fortune compared to some other films, but it was fairly reasonable considering the budget, etc. I'm sure that the DVD will do a roaring trade though ;) It's gonna be one of those cult films that accumulates cash over time...

Does anyone know what word is bleeped out on the Edgar Wright / Simon Pegg commentary during the trip to Barbara's house where she and Shaun are having a chat in the kitchen?

Cracking DVD.

As others have said - whats the point of 2 disc sets when you can get so much on one DVD?

Excellent commentaries - Dylan Moran is very funny making sarky comments about "tired actors" and types of lens.

LoaRAB of extras i've not had a chance to look at yet.

A cracking product - hope it does well for them.

Its the C word!!!! :D

the same word used in the begining when Ed askd everone if hte wanted a drink!! "any of you ***** want a drink!??"
Very naughty!! :p

Definalty a great film and a great dvd!! loved the outtakes

Well, this is a bit of an interesting one.

I personally would have prefered a two disc set and have a DTS mix as well as the 5.1 mix (I love the Dolby mix it has, but it's missing that slightly punchy bass :(). Similarly, I have noticed a small number of compression blocks around strong lines which can happen sometimes when the film is encoded at a lower rate (I have several DVRAB that do this). Again, it's not a MAJOR problem as the transfer is otherwise very strong (slight grain, but I think that's probably intentional).

It all comes down to anal detail really - I think the DVD is excellent for a standard release, but a special edition would really need a disk of its own IMO..

Lots of great stuff on the DVD. The only niggle I have is the inability to read the subtitles and listen to an audio commentary at the same time. Also you can't switch between the audio commentaries as the film is playing.

This inability to switch during films is becoming all too common these days....it is very anoying as you often see a classic scene and think....I wonder what the director or cast have to say about that....only to find you cannt. How many people would watch the whole film on commentary...i like to dip in and out now and again.
