Hey everyone.
Last night I was on the computer when I suddenly felt a stabbing pain in my abdomen. Remaining in a relaxed sitting position gave no pain, but when I moved or stood up, it returned.
When I stood up, I couldn't stand straight - it hurt immensely. I had to walk around like a hunchback for a bit. Eventually I forced myself to stand straight up, and it hurt bad for about a minute, after which the pain became more manageable.
I felt around my abdomen and found the "source" of the pain when I pressed my fingers down against the area directly above my belly-button.
I went to bed very worried that I might have appendicitis. I've never had surgery in my life (I'm a 22-year-old guy) so it was a scary thought.
I didn't get much sleep, but in the middle of the night, my stomach started gurgling and growling and I suddenly starting burping and passing gas repeatedly. With every minute that went by I felt better, until about 15 minutes later the gas stopped and I felt a lot better.
The pain hasn't returned today, but every so often I feel an extremely mild discomfort in my stomach. It's not really all that bothersome or uncomfortable. It's more like I'm more 'aware' of my stomach than usual, if that makes any sense. Maybe it's because I've been thinking about it so much today.
It's been 9 hours and the pain hasn't returned.
However, I'm still curious as to what exactly last night's pain could have been. I'm hoping it was just trapped gas, but I didn't know gas could be that painful. However, I'm still worried it could be my appendix, but I've never heard of appendicitis pain going away after it's already started.
The only thing out of the ordinary that I did yesterday was going out for a walk. I'm not a very active person, but three days ago I started a plan to go walking every evening, in order to lose weight (I weigh 225 pounds).
Thank you for your time, I apologize if I wrote too much, but I wanted to be thorough. Last night was probably my biggest health scare in my life. I've been remarkably healthy up until now.
