I had a filling done about three weeks ago. While drilling, my dentist accidentally nicked the pulp of the tooth. He put "medicine" on it and filled the tooth.
Over the following weeks I slowly started getting a sharp pain through my tooth. Sometimes triggered by hot/cold sensitivity, sometimes seemingly for no reason. When I told my dentist about this, he told me that I would need a root canal.
Does this sound normal? Is there anything else it can be or any other solutions? My insurance only allows me to see one doctor and its printed on my card so I can't get a second opinion. I only hesitate because it's my very front top tooth and I'm nervous about getting a natural looking crown. Any help would be appreciated.
