Shark Tale....Hits the abyss for me!

I have recently watched the film 'Shark Tale' by means i cannot mention here...........COUGH
internet
cough.

I have to say, it isn't all that good at all. It really isn't, it just seemed like an animated movie whose sole purpose is to make as much money as possible out of the star studded names it has got. I mean i am not saying that this movie isn't fun, hell yeah this movie is a great way to waste your time, but compared to other animated movies out there, Shark Tale is simply pale in comparison.

I mean, yeah sure they are plenty of gags to laugh at, but most of the jokes in the movie just seem very out of place in the context of the narrative. And some you can just tell were place there for the sake of gags.

This isn't a 'BAD' movie, it's just a little bit lame and forced......... But you will have some fun watching it though. Just don't go and see it expecting a Sherk or Finding Nemo/Toy story etc.

If i were you though, i would save my money for The incredibles, now that looks like a fun movie.

i like it, it think its better than finding nemo, mainly cause its more grown up that it!, cause for me, finding nemo WAS a kiRAB film, where as Shark tale is for a more older audience!, mainly cause it conatins stuf like the mafia, sum1 getting killed, etc, i like it

I was disappointed by this film as well.

Dreamworks seems to have taken a step backwarRAB from Shrek 2. The graphics are bland and flat, a main character you don't really care much for, dated pop cultural references and a storyline that's been done so much better before.

Still the kiRAB will like it and it will rake in the money but Pixar still have nothing to be worried about.

I saw the trailer for this and wasn't impressed at all.. I aslo had the chance to see it todasy but I turned it down to see Wimbledon (AND I HATE ROM-COMS!)

Its does look cheap. They dont look like fish, just people in brightly coloured outfits.

I thought the same when I saw Monster Inc. Its like we can do this fancy CGI stuff so what film can we make that uses it.

And yes the trailer for The Incredibles does look good.

I did like Monsters Inc., but it never grabbed me like Toy Story. I've only seen it once though I thought the story was pretty cool for a kiRAB movie. :)

The Incredibles looks cool, but sometimes I get annoyed by the 'posy' and unrealistic animation as used in stuff life Home on the Range etc. and thats what the guy looks like.. you know, the Johnny Bravo look with the huge chin. Something annoys me about that, though its Pixar so I'll keep faith. :)_

I understand what you mean - some animation styles are a bit weird and perhaps over the top. However I am a firm believer that animation should keep it's cartoon caricature styling and not go down the route of making people look realistic just because you can. CGI works best when it is used for adding complex detail and 3D qualities to the animation. Animated charaters should dtill be able to defy the laws of nature - eyes popping out of sockets, large birRAB that can fly with too small wings and of course the famous Bugs Bunny trick of walking out of a falling building just as it hits the floor.

Oh yes. I by no means want to whole Final Fantasy trying to look human thing. Just you know, when the guy says 'showtime', the way his mouth moves just annoys me. :P

Guess thats why I liked Bugs Life, Finding Nemo and Toy Story is they aint human, baby!

Antz and A Bug's Life are both good. The thing with the Pixar films is not only do they look great, they know what really matters- the story. Nemo and the like have a real heart to them, something that, from what I've heard, is lacking from Shark Tale.

To be quite honest,i preffered ants over a bugs life.Although i dont really like the look of shark tale at all....the fish look like a strange hybrid of fish and the person that is doing the voices...

I'd be with you chosing Antz over A Bugs Life. I took my niece and nepher to see Shark Tale today and was really disappointed. They loved it whihc was the main thing I supposed but I didn't think it was up to scratch. The main character (as has already been mentioned) I didn't care for really. I thought one of the main problems was that the story felt rushed. There was no time to get any connection with Oscar. de Niro was a huge disappointment to me aswell. The sound track ..........bad, the acting........bad......storyline.....weak . Over all I'd give it only 4 out of 10. Nemo, Shrek (both of them), Toy Story even the Little Mermaid were all much better.

I went to see Sharks Tale last night and did not have high hopes for it after the majority of reviews for it had been bad. However I did enjoy it more than I thought I would but it was a very average film with a lot of product placements. Oscar was the most unlikeable main character and made you wonder why anybody cares about him. I enjoyed the trailer for The Incrediables that I saw before this film far more than I enjoyed this film!

I didn't think it was that bad! It's a good kiRAB film, with a few laugh-out-loud bits even for us grown ups. Certainly not on par with Toy Story/Shrek, but not bad at all.

Was anyone redubbed in the UK release of Shark Tale? As most of you know in Shrek 2 some of the voices were redubbed by British celebs, I think the same has happened again. In Shrek 2 the joke was ruined when a character looking a lot like Joan Rivers (I think a lot of people know of her anyway) was redubbed with some British celeb who I had no idea who the hell she was. (which version is on the UK Shrek 2 DVD by the way?)

Personally I don't see why Dreamworks even bothers, they really should just leave it, it's hardly going to get them more money.

Yeah the fish reporter character katie Current was redubbed by Fiona Phillips of GMTV fame, originally it was Katie Couric. Pointless really. The 'famous' kate Thornton revoiced Joan Rivers' part in Shrek 2.

Fiona Philips was awful! She really spoiled the film! And to think, she's acually giving up her presenting career (which she does crap on anyway) for acting!
