Im 1 cm dilated and "very" effaced. I know that having sex helps after you start to efface and dilate because sprerm contains prostoglandins and when you orgasm it releases oxytocin and stimulates contractions...but i was reading that you should have sex 3 times in 24 hours to really get things moving...is it really necessary to do it THREE times??? I really dont think that im [and my husband too] are capable of doing that lol!
**SPERM** not sprerm.

once again, i didnt use spellcheck..oh well.
to the first answer - - i CANT have a miscarriage...im 36 weeks [38 weeks according to US due date, and my doctor has okayed me to try at home tecniques].

and getting the baby to "fall out" is what im TRYING to do.

Lets just say...
My girlfriends nickname is "Day Late" because obviously she was born a day late.

How was her mother induced into labour? ... The father + the sofa + doggystyle = Pop! Splash! (and time for a new sofa =S ).

It really does help (from my experience anyway) Do it as much as you're comfortable with. This may be TMI, but if you're not really up for doing it that much (which is very understandable. I remember being 38 weeks and not wanting to get off the couch for anything) maybe your husband can start things off by himself and just finish with you? Just a thought. Good luck!

well obviously if you're asking about starting labor you're probably past the 'miscarriage stage'. I think it can help but if your body isn't ready to accept labor it won't do much except maybe soften the cervix a little. If you don't want to do it that much, don't. Walking and getting the house ready for the new baby can help too.

i dont think you have to do it that much just as much as you feel like. also simple nipple stimulation can start contractions too just be careful then can come quite strong.

it helps in labor, but you might have a miscarraige because the contractions might losen the baby's sack's hold on your vaginal walls, making it fall out

it can help..i dont know why someone said you could have a miscarriage..its perfectly safe as long as your dr says so. I've never heard the 3 times thing though. I went into labor with my 2nd daughter soon after having sex but it didn't work as good with my 3rd who hubby and i were trying to get to come out!! Good luck!
