Sex Offenders. Do they get "cured"? What should I think about this guy?

Very short version: I got divorced this summer.. Our daughter is 4 years old. The ex is dating this registered sex offender. She says she has left them alone together. She says for "like a half hour", but thats probably a lie. I don't care who she dates, I just worry about our daughter, she is everything in the world to me.

This guys charges were "Use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime". The story is that he got one of those busts where the cop poses as a young girl and they.. well, like the "Catch a predator" deal. He was 19 at the time the "girl"/cop was 16. ***or is it just that... a story? It seems to me every sex offender in the world has a story to make themselves seem better..

She just believes everything he says.. and "hes changed.. he was young" ( it was 5 years ago )

What can I do or say? Hes off probation I guess... does that mean he can hang around day cares and schools and stuff now?

Sex offenders do not change EVER! My dad molested my sister when she was little, and then he 'changed'. It was ten years later that he started molesting me. They may not do anything for a while, but I would never let my daughter around a registered sex offender. I know this can be a tricky situation, but honestly I'd at least talk to a lawyer and see if you can do anything to stop him from seeing her.
