Sex and the City 2 - bitter disappointment??

After the first film was such a big "f*** you" to the spirit of the original series, ain't no way I'm getting suckered into watching this second one! :p

I just can't believe the films and the series were made by the same people.

to be fair i think the reason Ithought it had racist undertones was the fact that they chose the most stereotypical characters they could find. It was such poor writing and research.

I don't think it was racist per se, but i can see why people thought it

I was very disappointed by this crap. I was a massive fan of the series and have them all on dvd and still watch them every now and again. The first film wasn't bad, but in comparison to this, it's worthy of an oscar nomination! what a pile of tosh! not to mention totally unfunny crass american humour. Where is the wit of the tv series? I sincerely hope they do not make a third! This review sumarises everything I think!

We've been thinking it for two long years. All of us. Gnawing our cheeks at night, clutching at sweaty sheets, our faces hollow and gray, our once-bright eyes dimmed by the pain of too many questions. Sometimes we cry out, en masse, to a faceless god and a cold, indifferent universe that holRAB its secrets close. What... rasps the death rattle of our collective sanity. What is the lubrication level of Samantha Jones's 52-year-old vagina? Has the change of life dulled its sparkle? Do its aged and withered depths finally chafe from the endless pounding, pounding, pounding

I went last night and thought it pretty awful. Like someone else said, it was more slapstick in some cases and it was fairly obvious what was going to happen in some of the rather weak plotlines. Some funny scenes - Charlotte and Miranda getting drunk, the wedding, some Samantha one liners, but 2 1/2 hours was just far too long and the plot was pretty none existant.

But dont you think the women who took their burqas off were not one bit stereotypical? Its the law for them to wear them in public but they couldnt wait to get them off so I didnt think that was stereotypical.
Fair enough the man at the restaurant who called the police but those kind of stories about westerns getting arrested in these kind of situations make the news all the time here so its just portraying current topics.

Before I went to see it, I saw it getting slagged off on E! News by the movie critic. He said nothing much happens in the film and apart from Aiden making an appearance, not a lot else goes on.

But then they showed SJP saying how its not meant to be too serious and it was just a fun summer adventure film to see and I kind of agree.

I saw it yesterday afternoon.I actually prefered it to the first one. It was just like watching 5 episodes in a row.

The first one was too unbelievable IMO, they tried to make it too dramatic.

I'd actually go and see it again before it finishes.

Funniest moment:
When Samantha's birkin rips at the end and all the condoms fall out and she totally loses it with the locals. ''I HAVE SEXXXXXXX!!!!''

Best review of this film yet. I found the lot of them just vacuous and annoying in this film- and yes, it was racist in my opinion...

I absolutley adored the movie but

However i cringed at Liza Minelli ruining a rather annoying overated but already an iconic classic song. I didn't see the relevence of Penelope cruz's appearance. They could easily cast anyone to do that. I liked the little scene with Miley and Samantha but to keep up with fashion element that Satc is known for, they should of had a fashion icon or model to wear the same outfit as Samantha like Naomi Campbell or Lady gaga.

The plot wasn't really engaging. Miranda having jobs problems. Charlotte jugging motherhood. Samantha being samantha. Carrie having doubts in her marriage. These were rather a bit dull storyline for each of the four girls. The four of them going on holiday really saved the movie to be honest.

In total i gave it a 8/10. There will likely be a 3rd but i think it's best to end after the 3rd.

I agree :D

I also liked the storyline with Charlotte kind of cracking up over the kiRAB. She wanted them for so long, now she's realised what a nightmare they can be!

*sip* :)

I enjoyed the film, but think that they could have cut half an hour out of it.

There were funny parts and sad parts too particularly
with Charlott and Miranda feeling guilty about how Charlotte finRAB motherhood hard and Miranda WANTING to work....
..

I thought that some of the film was a bit too "Carry On... ish" if you know what I mean.

I think that they should not make another one.... the films, IMO did not capture what the series was about.... I know that they have grown up, had families... etc... but they need to leave it be now... or else SATC will be remembered for two naff films and not the great TV series it was.

I am a MASSIVE fan of the series, and enjoyed the first film but this was a disappointment...

Carrie is my favourite character, but they made her far too selfish for my liking...I know she is the main character....but it irked when she dismissed Charlotte for having understandable worries about her nanny and said she was obsessing....but then everyone has to STOP and take notice when she flips out over a trivial matter (like Big getting a TV for the bedroom)??

I hate to say this things as I adore Carrie and SJP, but it needed saying!!!!!!

Yeah that Samantha scene was hilarious, she just flipped.

I also loved the bit with Charlotte and Miranda drinking and Charlotte admitting her first thought was "I can't lose the nanny" :D:D

Carrie was just as selfish as usual, I much prefer the other characters to be honest despite her being the protaganist (sp), so to speak.

:D That was great. Until then i was getting a bit board of Charlotte, but from that scene onward she was great. I also felt Charlotte and Miranda had a bit of a personality swap from last movie. I loved Abu Dhabi Miranda :p

Other highlights were
- Samantha shouting "Where the **** is Charlotte?" Whilst escaping the town only to cut to her getting some 'I Love Abu Dhabi' shirts.
-Mirandas 'La La La La La' to the hotel staff trying to get all their luggage in that car boot.
-Samathas panic at being told she was going to be charged from then on and the frantic packing that followed.
-The whole karaoke sequence and Samanthas 'I AM WOMAN' at the end.
-'Lawrence of my labia' :D
-'Could this be any gayer?', followed by Liza appearing from behind the certain
- 'Paula' Abdul
- Samatha behind her desk applying her menopause cream

Basically everything apart from the Carrie/Big/Aiden storyline :p

ok so this one didn't have much of a storyline but I still kinda liked it, in a strange way. :)

Like someone else said it was like watching a few eps of it. I cried with laughter and some points, i thought some bits were hilarious :D loved Mirander, loved Charlotte and Samantha.. the only one I get a little bored of is Carrie! So self centered but she has always been like this. If they do make a third it i'd like it back in New York, with less of the selfish side of Carrie, I've no idea what they would come up with for a story!

I also don't understand the Mirander hate in reviews, she did go back to work.. she just hated her arsehole boss so quit! It wasn't like she was giving up work.

I saw this last month and thought it wasn't as bad as the critics had said but I still don't understand why they ended up in Abu Dhabi , made Carrie kiss Aiden and turned Samantha into a horrible caricature (even more so than usual!).
I hope there is a third film because the legacy of SATC deserves better!
