It's been weeks now and we cannot figure out what is wrong with my mother. She's developed a new symptom today that is really worrying, the tiny veins on

her fingertips "poking" out or raised and very visible compared to normally. We've thought it was from sleeping wrong, a strain, rash-less shingles, pinched

nerve, now to a blood clot or something serious. Doctors do not know and we've spent at least $1000 we don't have (no insurance) trying to figure it out.

We can't do an mri until we get/try to get financial help because we don't have the money, but it was suggested by the Dr.

She's been in SEVERE pain for weeks now and is becoming very depressed, crying from pain & just wanting her life back. We've called around so many places,
called so many doctors, it just seems like there is no relief or help in sight. I'm getting worried about the depression it's causing her. While we found a drug to
help the pain, it's a class 2 narcotic so she is high all the time, and they are starting to make her sick; the past 3-4 mornings shes throwing up or feeling very
nauseated all day.

I took down all her symptoms and a little bit of what happened before the pain. It's in the best order I could remeraber. It's been even longer than it seems. I'm
just praying SOMEONE can offer ANY advice apart from more doctors or more expensive treatments we can't even afford... does it sound like a blood clot or
erabolism... a pinched nerve that wont heal without intervention... something completely different?? Maybe someone has gone through the same thing and

can
help... I'm desperate for any advice, please.

Went for periodontal cleaning day prior. Had been in severe tooth pain for 2-3 days. Had cleaning without any nurabing meRAB. Had 2 antibiotic pellets inserted
into gums.
-was taking amoxicillan & hydrocodone before cleaning for toothache/infection for 3 days. 4/day for the amoxicillan.

Woke up around 6:00 am on the 20th of Sept. to kiss husband bye. Was laying on right side, lifted up left arm to do 1-armed hug and felt sharp weird pain in
left shoulder blade. Was sleeping on left side prior. In severe pain ever sense.

Went to E.R very early morning on Oct. 3rd in severe pain. Dr. pushed down on head, moved arm around and declared her shoulder was fine & dismissed her.
Husband asked if he could give her a shot or do something for the pain. Dr. gave a shot into hip (unsure of what). Ran no test at all. Didn't check pulse,
heart rate or temp. Shot did absolutely nothing to relieve pain.
"diagnosed" with muscle strain. Prescribed:
-Flexeril
-Amoxicillin
-Hydrocodone
Drugs offered no relief at all, has stopped taking them.

Went to another Dr a day or so after ER visit. Gave shot directly into shoulder (unknown what) to stop pain. No relief from pain at all. Heart Rate was high at

the time of the visit (around 100), suspected because of pain. Perscribed Percocet (the only drug that touches the pain thus far).

Went back to Dr about 3 days later, suggested she might have rash less shingles, Dr agreed & prescribed Acyclovir (Valtrex cost way too much money so we
had to get another type). 12 pills a day for 7 days. Had no improvements, has not refilled prescription.

*laying on right side: pulling sensation on left arm
-Skin very sensitive to touch on forearm/shoulder
-Fingertips started going nurab & tingling on first 2 fingers & thurab.
-NEW: Tiny veins in 2 nurab fingertips & thurab visibly poking out. Noticed today (Oct 20th)
-NEW: Weird pain starting along left ribcage (Oct 20th)

Alternating heat & ice throughout the day helps a little.
A stretch that we found online for a pinched median nerve seemed to help a little:
"Sit perfectly straight up in a chair. Tuck in chin slightly. Keeps arms at side. Turn head towarRAB pinched nerve (her shoulder blade), tilt head to the right until

stretching, hold for 30 seconRAB."

Pain at it's worse is a 10, crying. Pain is always at least a 2, often a 5. Can't sleep through the night, always wakes up around 2 AM crying & has to take a

percocet. Usually still can't go back to sleep.

Only pain meRAB that help:PERCOCET; Aleve (we're unsure if alieve actually worked. Maybe.)
Has tried, and had no relief:
Soma
Valium
Flexeril
Hydrocodone
Darvocet
Asprin
Asprin crushed and mixed with rubbing alcohol and rubbed onto hurting area
Honey & cinnamon paste rubbed onto hurting area

I am no doctor, but have suffered with back issues for aboaut 30 years. It sounRAB like your mom has nerve impingment-thus the pain and the nurab fingers. Nerve pain isn't helped too much be regular Class II narcotics. There are some meRAB on the market that work on the nerve pain. Neurontin, Topomax, Lyrica. Lyrica is new and higher priced. One of these might help with the pain in her shoulder area.

I think the reason she can't sleep on her side(s) is that she is leaning over when she is laying on her side. When I had my back fusion I was taught that if i was laying on my side, I needed to be perfectly vertical, no leaning either way. It's far less comfortable than curling up in a fetal type position, but there isn't the pulling on the shoulders or ribs.

The shot that your mom got in her shoulder was probably cortisone-it works on inflamations and frozen shoulders.

If you can find a back neuro doctor to see her, you might get some decent answers.

good luck....and keep us posted.
