Over the weekend I certified for open water scuba diving in a lake that was 51 degrees. I had a hood and wet suit. I was able to release ear pressure without a problem.
On monday evening I started to have slight ear pain in my left ear. ( i can't take IBprofen because I am having a 2CM kidney stone removed so I took 1 Loratab 5-500 tab for pain every 4-6hrs). On Monday morning the pain was severe so I went to urgent care. Doctor only gave me ear drops and said it was an outer ear infection. (I told him I had one similar to this in same ear a few yrs ago and that I needed an antibiotic but he refused.)
By monday afternoon the pain increased I called my family doctor and they could not see me until Thursday. By this time I was taking 2 Loratabs every 4hrs and it helps for about 2 and 1/2 hrs.... Wed morning came and I called Urgent Care and explained to the doctor that I was in extreme pain. He then ordered me an antibiotic of 500mg Cipro. I took this 3 times and on Thurs morning I showed up a my Family doctors office at openning. He saw me and c=gave me an ear wick becqause my ear was swollen shut. Changed my antibiotic to 2000MG Augmenten twice a day (twice the normal amount) as he knows this has to be curred so I can have surgery in less than 2 weeks. It is know 5am on Friday morning and I am still in severe pain. Side of face hurts around ear. ear wick has come out, still taking Loratabs (2 every 4 hrs). Any Suggestions?????????
