Severe Bloating

I have suffered with severe constipation for the last couple of years. However, since September I have a new symptom of severe bloating with it. I will look completely normal in the morning and by the time I go to bed I look like I'm ready to give birth. It hurts to try and suck it in and my belly is very hard. Doctors that I go to are telling me this is still part of constipation. I don't agree. I feel as if something else is wrong. I wish I could post pictures to show the difference in my belly before I go to bed and when I wake up. My belly goes back to normal by morning whether I've been able to go to the bathroom or not. Has anyone else dealt with this before?

Have you tried Miralax for constipation? If not, give it a try. It is over the counter now and was prescribed by my gastrointerologist.

Works great when a person has a lazy colon. Take every morning and drink plenty of water during the day. In a short time you will be regular as a clock. Sometimes a stool softener is needed to. I take one morning and night as well as the Miralax, what a relief. Miralax does not work like regular laxatives, no urgent rushing to bathroom, cramps or anything else, just normal desire to go.

Miralax has worked well for me, gave me my life back.

Bloating can be a problem due to a malfunctioning gallbladder. It also can be due to constipation. Fermenting of food in the colon will cause excess gas. Try Gas-X after meals and see if it helps. Citracel fiber will help. Beano is another one that will help. Make wise food choices, that is eleminate gas producing foods from your diet.

Thanks for your response Misty. I've actually just bought a bottle of Miralax. I will start that tomorrow and hope for some good results. I've heard that you have to sometimes adjust the dosage, so I'll start messing with that and see what happens.

Thank you for also bringing up the possibility of a gall bladder problem. I've looked up symptoms for that and many seem to match. I'm making an appointment with a new doctor and will definitely bring these ideas up. Thanks again!

I have the same problem. When I get up in the morning my stomach is flat and by the time I leave for work or get to work, my stomach is swollen, like I am 5 mo. pregnant or so. I have been to a Gastro doctor, regular doctor and even a alternative medicine doctor and no one has been able to help me.
