Paper plates are cheaper & more economical, when purchased in bulk. Using regular plates would be more practical, IF they are washed daily, or rinsed off & put into a dishwasher. I use both & I have a built-in dishwasher. When using larger paper plates, dessert size paper plates, & paper bowls, I rinse them off with hot water, before placing them into the wastebasket. It keeps the smell down, especially when they're inside the wastebasket & garbage can. If you will be the sole dish washer, I suggest you use both paper plates & regular dinner plates, glasses, etc. If you don't have a dishwasher, you'll be the one who is going to be the resident dishwasher. Your roomy has pretty much told you that in so many words. Sam's Club & Costco, are great places to shop for paper products. Don't forget to stock up on paper cups as well. If you go paper, most of the time, just rinsing them off first, will eliminate bad odors in your apartment.
