I just purchased the 6100 HD receiver, and and added the second LNDF, and then added the switch.
The receiver is getting the 91 satellite, but not the 82 satellite (the HD one) is not working.
It's all wired correctly, and the 82 doesn't work even if I bypass the switch.
I phoned Bell but they just rambled on about making sure the skew angle is right.
Which I believe it should be since 91 is working.
So at this point I am confused, and would rather not call Bell again.
Any one have any ideas?

Thanks,
Marcus

The skew is actually very important as well as the line of sight. Sometimes 91 will come in great and not the 82 due to obstructions. Be sure of these points. Did you do a check switch after the receiver was installed? Found on menu 6-1-1. Is the cable from the 82 LNB properly done: connectors. Make sure there is no short in the cable. Also try changing the lnb's from 91 to 82 , perhaps the 82 lnb is burnt?

Marcus1060, you don't mention what your setup was previously. I assume you have installed the 20" dish (with the skew adjustment)? If you only had 91 previously, your dish will need adjusting to bring in both 91 and 82.

Thanks for the replies!

I have the 20" dish, with the skew adjustment, I imagine is 66.1 degrees. Since it was actually a Bell contractor that set it up this time (since I moved).
The first bell tech I spoke to said that the skew needed to be 66.1, and that is what the install book also says.

I ran the check switch, it says it sees the 91 sat, but not the 82 sat.

I can try switching the LNB to the old one (I put 2 new ones up).

Is it possible I may need to change the skew? Any idea what I would need to change it too.

Edit: Also, it's the SW21 switch, not the 44.

Thanks again,
Marcus

If you didn't had SAT82 before you are eligible to get free install of the second LNBF, and required lines to hook up your receiver. All you need to do is take programming that requires the second LNBF, such as HD for a minimum of 6 months...

Unfortunatly I read in another thread that delay around this time of the year are quite long...

I know this wont help you, when I purchased my 6100 it came with the dish and the 2 LNB's. I had never used them I had a DP Quad 4x4 LNB which was great, it picked both sats and sent the signal down the line and was all done within the LNB. When I tried putting the 2 LNBs with the 2x1 switch and run check switch the receiver would lock up or would go 1 of 38 and then would say 91X 91X 82X 82X and never worked, put the DP Quad in, run check switch 1 of 2, min later everything is up and running. Weird eh?

the skew will depend on where u live.http://satcalculator.freehostia.com/
hope this helps?

Your elevation and skew will need to be adjusted. If you look at the dish from the front, it will need to be turned to the left and slightly elevated. The link that was posted is a good site to give you the settings. Then you will need another switch in addition to the SW21. An SW24 will do it. As well, you will need to have three wires coming from the dish - two from the 91 LNB and one from the 82 LNB.

I'm not eligible for the free install because we had 82 at our old location.
And when we moved we where supposedly supposed to bring the second LNB with us.

Anyways, that link gave me 67.8 degrees for a skew, maybe I should just change it that?
I do have an very good clear view of the sky, no trees, nothing.

Edit: Another question, are the 2 LNBs physically the same? Or should there be different LNBs?

If you had the second LNBF at your previous residence and moved, the agent should have checked client suscribe to international programming when doing the order for the tech to reinstall the dish at your new house and BOTH LNBF should have been installed on your new dish, without you having the hassle to go on the roof to remove it and bring it.

Also, if you had the LNBF installed, but didn't suscribe to an Nimiq 2 programming, you might have became eligible again for the free install

Did u try changing the lnb? And are the connectors going from the 82 lnb to the sw21 done properly? Make sure the copper has nothing touching it as not to cause a short. If the skew is good and 91 is comming in good...82 should be aligned automataly. I heard that in the west such as B.C , 82 is harder to get and may require a second dish ( bigger ). Not sure on that one or what province u live in. The last thing I can think of is the sw21 is defective which often happens.

I am in BC...
I tried adjusting the angle for quite some time, wasn't able to get it to go.
Tried 3 LNBs, all ones that worked on 91, made no difference for 82.

I guess I'll have to try and get Bell come and do it for me...

Easy way to aime the 20" dish is to use either LNBF, the"Y" yolk is marked 91 & 82, depending which side of this yolk you choose, peak the Dish on that bird.

Then add the second LNBF, the switch and run a Check Switch.

Ensure Skew is set before doing the above.
