Seth Macfarlane to voice Johann Krauss in Hellboy II

I guess he's a big fan of the comic (or the first movie...or both, I guess). Interesting news...and we're well into this month, so it must be true.

Wow, thats neat. I wonder, is Johann Krauss supposed to be a funny character or a serious character? It would be interesting to see how Macfarlane handles something that isn't totally slapstick like Family Guy and American Dad.

Cheesus Khrist, it's not like he's writing or having any creative involvement with the film...chill out. He's just voicing a character and collecting a paycheck. For all you know, Macfarlane is a fan of Hellboy and was more than happy to jump at the chance to voice a role in it.

He has the most obnoxious voice(s) of ALL TIME. Brian the dog is the only voice he's ever done that doesn't make me want to stick flaming Q-tips in my ears.

And for that reason alone, you have no enthusiasm for Hellboy II. Kinda silly...

Come on now. I thought that Famke Jensen was a lousy choice to play Jean Grey in the X-Men movies (and that hasn't changed even now), but I still saw the flippin' movies.

OK, Hellboy fan coming through.

Johann Kraus (in the comic, and I assume in the movie) is a medium and empath who's body was destroyed while he was out-of-body during a seance. The BPRD came in time to build him a "containment suit" to hold his ectoplasmic soul. In the comics it's sort of a man shaped balloon but in the movie it looks more like a diving suit. Johann is German and was a dignified old chap with a beard before his transformation and subsequent career as evil-fighting BPRD agent.

Here's Guillermo del Toro's response on the HBII message board:

I understand why Johann needs to be overdubbed considering the person that's playing him is more of a physical performer/dancer type. I didn't respect the stupid stunt casting of David Hyde Pierce as Abe Sapien in the first movie, when you had the perfect voice for Abe all along in Doug Jones.

Doug Jones would be disrespected once again on the Fantastic Four sequel.
