servicing the 4hp yamaha 4AC outboard?

New member
just bought a yamaha 4hp 4AC outboard, it seems to run and pump water ok, its a little stiff to turn and a bit stiff to put in to gear. also the cable setup to make it go seems abit slack.

any one got any advice on servicing this and freeing it all up?
 
if no adjustment on cable get new cable also change spark plug and check gearbox oil level and has no water in it teleflex cable not expensive do this and u shoul d not have any problems its no joke being stranded out in water and also if prop has shear pin or split pin change] good idea to carry spare pin for prop happy boating
