service stability system message in my cadillac sts...?

the service stability system warning message appears on my cadillac sts and the car does not want to accelerate when i push on the gas pedal,it also sounds as if it wants to shut itself off when in low idle.Is the problem difficult and expensive to fix and can any garage do it or do i have to get it straight to the dealership?
