Seriously, What Phone Should I Get?

First off, I've seen online that people are buying for example, Verizon phone's but using the Cingular service on them. Is this possible and is it legal? If so, then that opens my options for phones infinity. If this is the case, I need a phone that is literally a computer (like the Blackberry, Cingular 8125, & that slim Verizon phone. I don't know which is the best except for the Cingular 8125 which was absolutely horrible. Slow, run by Windows (Blugh) and constant decisions the phone made without my permission such as calling people, turning up the ringer, and the alarm silently going off.

as a side note, you cannot use Verizon's phones on Cingular. Verizon runs on CDMA protocol, and Cingular uses GSM. They are mutually incompatible. You could possibly use T-mobile's phones on Cingular and viceversa, as long as the phones are unlocked (not fixed to a service provider) for both companies use the GSM technology. Look at the Palm Treo 750v about to come to Cingular

Which carrier is the best in your area? Remember to check out where you live, work, travel, play, etc. Do you travel overseas? Once you know which carrier, then we can recommend a device.

How do you plan to use the device? Do you need email, calendar, contacts? Do you need the capability to edit Office documents?
