Series that surprisingly "Didn't" became big

That doesn't really explain anything for the uninitiated who are familiar with the name but unfamiliar with the man. Like me. How did he jinx it?

To be honest, I'm rather surprised that Slayers never really got off to ANY start here. I mean... There have been so many constant rumours back in the day that Sci-Fi (WHEN it was Sci-Fi, shut up) would be airing it but it never did. Shame really, it would've been a nice TV cult classic of sorts since it has that light-hearted but high-strung adventure to it.

Also, Big O Season 2, because we don't have a Season 3 even though I believe it was considered (unless I'm wrong). First season was like... big enough to warrant a new one, but this one? We got that ending and called it good for some reason. o.o
 
I meant to say that we called it good when it came to clamoring for another season after that episode, not that the episode was actually good or anything.
 
Well, I think part of the reason I, for one, clamored so hard for a second season is because the first season did a really good job of making it look like it was all leading up to something, that the writers had a plan that would tie everything together in an awesome way. And then when the second season came I realized that no, they'd just been making crap up as they went along like everyone else and had no idea where they were going with it. (-: So I didn't have much desire to see a third season of flailing around searching for an overarching story that wasn't there.
 
The problem was, the fanbase "shrunk" or degenerated enough to not rally for a third season, unlike for season 2. So some may think it actually became less popular once the very last episode aired. Going from "Batman" to "Evangelion" in a span of 12 episodes isn't so good for pacing.
 
One Piece, unfortunately. It had potential of becoming the next DBZ but Naruto nabbed that spot because it was way more fortunate. Despite One Piece's bad start, it has come a long way in America and still has a huge fanbase. It could be bigger, though. Way bigger...



Whoa whoa whoa, back up. Since when was the Sgt. Frog dub considered a failure? Last time I heard, the people that watched it liked it.
 
Where did he talk about the dub? He's talking about its overall popularity, and saying he's giving it a year to reach bigger status.
 
Not the level of fanservice that's in Soul Eater (at least what I've seen of it). Bleach's fanservice just comes from scantily clad women wearing short or tight clothes, and it's fanservice is almost a rarity and some close-up moments, and Yoruichi. Now I'm not saying Soul Eater is extreme or anything, but it is up there. I won't lie either, the fanservice was what turned me away from the series, at least in the manga anyway. From what I've seen of the anime the fanservice seemed to have been toned down, so I'll give it another shot when (IF) it starts airing on tv.
 
Am I seriously missing porn shots or something? Blair is the "sexy" stichke, same as like 3-4 others in Bleach, Boa in One Piece, and many others that fall in that role. Calling it extreme or up there because of one minor character is overshadowing a good-paced shounen series.

And this is just general, not just you. The biggest "argument" I've seen against SE is fanservice which is biased when they also bring up GunXSword as comparison to reach on TV.
 
Because of one character...? Soul Eater? Nooo.. First 3 episodes had Blair, Tsubaki, Liz and Patty. Like I said, it's not extreme, but in comparison to Bleach it certainly dominates. (I also think SE is better than Bleach overall) I can't speak for anyone else, and I've said it once before that I don't care for fanservice, and prefer it to not be in anything I watch or read. (Of course I'm going to be bias against it. I HATE IT)

A few boob jokes in the first 3 episodes doesn't sound like too much fanservice to me.

I haven't finished watching the series, but I haven't seen anything that tops the bath/hot springs scenes from the first 2 episodes. Honestly, the show seems like it could air perfectly fine without censoring a thing.
 
I'll agree the most stand-offish part of Soul Eater was the fanservice, but it actually lightens up quite a bit after the beginning episodes. The first few episodes have something in every episode, but then it kind of dissolves one the show gets into the main plot with some notable exceptions (usually whenever Blair is on screen, but she's a really minor character) The manga definitely has a lot more fanservice, though. If they can air Naruto's barely covered nude woman form on Toonami, then I don't think it's that big of a stretch for this to air on Adult Swim or something. I haven't seen Soul Eater in awhile though so I may be forgetting something. I don't watch Bleach so I can't comment on that show.
