Hmmm.... The site seems to assume that everyone with this opinion was a "fan" before seeing the movie. I certainly had a passing interest in the TV show (I was a huge Buffy fan) before, but was bowled over by how good the movie was. I'm sure there are a lot of other people like myself too. There seems little assumption in Devin Faraci's that the movie could draw people in, create "fans" of Serenity, not Firefly. This has happened in the UK on the back of strong reviews, but seems to have failed to ignite elsewhere. Certainly my optimism for a sequel (and I'm sure that of many others) is based solely on this movie - and not an pre-conceived ideas from some cancelled TV, which was cancelled before it was ever shown in the UK. Perhaps I'm being "glass half full" about future prospects, but certainly not for the reasons the jackass in who wrote the article on the fansite 'Chud' seems to assume.
