Serenity Named Top Sci-Fi Film

I must be a diehard fan then because I love Serenity and the Firefly series.

I would rate Serenity as one of the best sci-fi films of all time. However, I also love the original Stargate film and The Fifth Element, so you may consider I have lousy taste!

But, I also thoroughly enjoyed the Star Wars films, so I guess there is hope for me yet

Being a devoted Firefly fan, the film was a disappointment. Whedon killed off too many people I was really fond of! I wanted to know their stories. I can't go into detail in case I spoil it for people who have yet to watch, but I would heartily recommend the series as opposed to this film.

Just.......don't get too fond of anyone :D

Don't get me wrong I liked it but it's very overrated, it could have been better I felt, it got voted the best film of 2005 as well which I never thought it really deserved.

I mean, better than both Alien films and Blade Runner.....really?

Having said that I really loved the cast they have so much charm. I don't know why I always remember that from the film, but I do.

after watching Serenity i then went and watched Firefly (i know wrong order) and i was surprised that Joss killed off those characters.
i thought they had a few more stories in them, when i know which format has won the HD/Blu-Ray battle is over, i'll get the film in HD.
i here that the current version, i think Blu-ray is pretty good and after watching the film on DVD, you know that the end will look great in HD :D

I must admit, it was one of the best Sci-Fi films i've seen in a while. I really enjoyed the film. Which makes me wonder why, i never was aware of the the tv show that proceeded it. I've been thinking about buying the tv series for ages now

I recorded this on Sky + the other night, and when we came to watch it the sound was jumping all over the place. It really was impossible to watch.

Im gutted now. I didnt know it was supposed to be a good film, we just recorded it because it gave us something to watch on an otherwise boring weekend !!

I love Serenity and Firefly, the best space western ever (inc Westworld) but the best Sci-Fi ever I don't think so, The Martix, The Empire Strikes Back, Blade Runner, Alien, Total Recall, 2001 were all better in mho.

Nice to see that Browncoats are still as enthusiastic as ever. It's a cracking movie, and Joss Whedon is a legend, but like Mr Horseman says, I'd question the suggestion it's 'the best'.

This is hardly a surprising result coming from SFX. They lost all sense of objectivity years ago, and I simply gave up once their Joss Whedon/Farscape (10 pages covering the cancellation - as if SF shows haven't been axed before!) obsession dominated the magazine at the expense of all else.

I mean, Sarah Michelle Gellar must have been on every other cover at one point!
