Sense perception in the arts and sciences?

Does sense perception perform fundamentally distinct functions in the arts and sciences? To what extent does the artist take advantage of the subjective nature of sense perception while the scientist regards it as an obstacle to overcome?

I have to do an essay in response to these questions. I'm in the process of writing it and have run out of ideas for points to make. Suggestions to help get me going again would be great thx
