Solves a huge problem for me cos The Upper Galilee is an arid desert when it comes to books. No libraries and the main bookseller, Steimansky, adds $3 dollars onto every paperback, making them expensive.
I got the expensive e-book with the Wi-Fi connection, though my good friend and neighbour, Alan told me it was useless and wouldn't work in The Galilee.
Well, I connected to amazon books last night and pre-ordered the new Lee Childe book which comes out in September and The History of Nursery Rhymes and the books downloaded onto my Kindle in 15 seconds, so He will have to eat his words..!
There's a huge selection of either completely free books or they cost a dollar, stuff out of copyright, so I got The Complete Works of Mark Twain, Jane Austin, Charles Dickens, for a dollar each.
I'm loaded with fav authors, like Patrick O'Brien, W.E.B.Griffin, Lee Childe, Assaf Gavron, Carl Hyaaison, and I do gardening books, chef's memoirs, travel books and sci-fi. Now I no longer have to go round scrounging something to read from friends any more..!
I have now some 60 books on my Kindle, so now I'm never strapped for reading material.
It charges up to run for about 8 hours and recharges in a coupla hours so I do that overnight. You can flip through books from one to another and delete a book if you're done with it and don't want to read it again. You can alter the Font size, so you choose the print size you like. It's a bright screen and can be read in strong sunlight.

A regular book, for sure.
It doesn't have to be turned on...I can pass it on to a friend when I'm done...and I can take it wherever I go and not have to worry about the cost if it happens to get dropped or lost!

A Kindle aka an e-reader, has an internet connection, & allows one, to download books, music, newspaper articles, etc. I've seen them advertised for between $100-$189 online. I have no interest in a Kindle. I'd rather curl up with a regular book, any day.

I enjoy curling up with a book. I love reading and do so every night before I go to bed. I even take a book with me to the beach.I don't read while sitting out on the strand because I enjoy watching people. Just when we are in the motel I will read while the grandchildren watch tv. Poppy

I am avid book reader. Since retiring - I have had time to pursue leisure reading and time to visit used bookstores & swap meet book sellers for books I had never read for cents on the dollar. I enjoy the hunt & discovery of books on subjects that I might have known about while perusing stacks & shelves. Obscure works on the spy networks in England during WWII or a scholarly book on US history no longer found in regular book stores are examples of the wonders that are there. There seems to be an an enormous stock pile of used & light read books just about everywhere. I also enjoy flipping pages & holding a book. I think it is one of the most cost effective entertainment for me to search out used books. I have the time to explore.
I do know that one day all books will probably be on the electronic reading screen but I am not in any hurry to give up the wonderful wealth of books that are still out there for us to discover.
