Seniors, did you push your parents buttons, or were you too fearful of the punishment?

I have to be honest and say I pushed buttons!

This started at a very young age too! I always tried to dodge that belt, but failed most of the time!
Example: Daddy, would take the congregation to a local African American Church when numbers were low! Usually, on a Wednesday night. We loved going there as the worship service was very different from ours, but it was awesome!

Daddy, was a Baptist minister and very strict on us. We girls could not dance, wear jeans, play cards and so forth! Well, the local church was having an outdoor revival and I knew we would be going to this church if the turnout was low. It was! All the way to this church I thought about how they danced in the aisles and rationalized that dancing there, would be okay. Mind you, I did not ask!

We got to the church and the worship service began! Those ladies were dancing and I could not help myself! I jumped up and I joined them. The only dancing I had ever seen was on TV: The jerk, the swim and so forth! So, I was enjoying myself and dancing the jerk and swimming too! lol I accidentally glanced at my Dad! Ewww, I knew that look! Daddy, motioned for me to come to him. I danced my little fanny over there.

He took me firmly by the shoulder and asked me, "what do you think you are doing?" I answered, dancing with the people here. He whispered into my ear, "No, you are dancing, they are worshiping God!"

Now, I knew I was taking a chance, but I wanted to dance and so, I did! That was my first dance and my last in front of my Dad!

Are you guilty of pushing buttons too?
Thank you, puppy love rules! I've told this so many times that I am sure many will pass it on down. I hope so.
