Sending SMS with Blackberry 8830

Hey guys,

I've just successfully flashed a BB 8830 to Cricket, initially using the 1040 PRL. After OTA activation, looks like Cricket downloaded the 1030 PRL.

I'm now having problems with SMS. I can receive messages, but can't send them. Making and receiving voice calls works fine. Is there some sort of configuration step that I've missed to get SMS fully functioning?

First of all you might want to make sure you are on a rate plan that has text messaging...

Second, this has been a common problem with CPE phones. It can be fixed a couple different ways. You could either call customer service and ask for them to add the "ZMM" feature to your account because it comes with the $40 RP and above. When a flashed phone is activated and put in as a flashed phone, Cricket's activation system will not always add all of the features.

The other option you have would be to go to your local dealer and have them change the phone model on your account to a Razr V3c or anything other than CPE for that matter. Then they need to go into the features in your account, they don't have to change anything but just click the arrow to move on and it will refresh your account.
