If you send a picture as a MMS message, the phone will shrink the picture down to under 30K, and a very small size. These are MMS recommended standards, as not all networks support attachments bigger than 30K.
Back when MMS was designed about 10 years ago 30K seemed like an awesomely big size for a JPG, especially given that such an image would have a far greater resolution than the phone screens of the time.
Anyway, I'm sure I've seen the ability to turn off MMS attachment size limits in the settings somewhere, but I can't find them now.
My advice would be to use a system which is much more capable, has no such limitations, and is entirely free. Email it! BlackBerries are meant to be good at email.
