sending emails to Yahoo using PHP mail function?

Hi,

I created a sign-up page thats sends a confirmation email after a user signs-up. the trouble is most of the time the confirmation email never reaches the user. Is there a way that we can request for our domain or ip from where the email is sent, to be whitelisted?

Any suggestions on how to make this work?
