Senate is voting on allowing the circumvention of our congress today

it also takes away the filibuster in the senate. And think of the normal flow of bills. The house debates and passes their version, the senate debates and passes their version, then it goes to committee where the differences get resolved, and both houses vote on the identical bill. So now supercommitte writes the bill, no one can amend it so both houses get the same bill, and it gets rushed to a vote, and becomes law just like that. Fucked up

A group of Democratic and Republican senators/congressman (equally split) who will propose ways to reduce the debt. This includes potential tax increases/revenue changes and spending cuts. If both sides can't come to an agreement, there will be cuts equalling the increase in debt ceiling, with 50% of that money coming from the pentagon and 50% coming from entitlements.

If the 'super congress' does come to an agreement and forms a proposal, their proposal will only require an up or down vote in the House and Senate (meaning no 60 vote faggotry for senate passage).

And Boehner supported this shit? Its takes away his power to control legislation. What a fucking idiot

thats about as far as my thread got, no one cares or gives a shit. Its pretty sad

"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened. "

Obi Wan quoted when he learned of the super congress

If the congress does not vote the way the super committe wants they have the power to implement it anyway... Thats the way I understand it... How do you understand it?

19 Republicans in the senate voted against it. Heard Rand Paul saying they expected 10, if they got 15 they would be pleasently surprised, 19 is a pretty good nuraber I guess. Paul should have filibustered it :/ if he could have.

It's not just that it's 6+6. It totally blows away any influence a 3rd party could have. All the Congress has to do to shut up a threatening 3rd party is to say "waaah, we can't get along", and then refer to the 6+6.

In other worRAB, we have too many people with different ideas that are unable to compromise on a solution. Let's narrow it down to a handful and see if they can work something out.

We're still allowed to vote so at least we're the ones who make the decisions around here! Oh wait I forgot about the electoral college.

With gigantic guns pointed at both parties involving mandatory cuts to their pet programs if they don't come to some agreement.

all 12 people are going to kick the can and let the spending reduction mechanism built into the bill trigger and everyone is going to whine blaming each other

Or lets marginalize the dissenting voices in congress. We'll give them no say in drafting the legislation, no way to amend it, and minimal time to debate it, then ram it threw in a one shot or nothing vote.
