Selling Phone After Receiving Rebate

If I have brand new phone and get the rebate on it will there be any issue with the ESN number if I chose to sell the phone instead of activate it?

I don't know much about reselling or buying used cell phones, but I've been told to make sure the ESN numbers are clean. The rebate instructions tell me to send in the bar code label with the ESN/MEID. This leads me to believe that the number will be processed in some way.

Worst case scenario...I can still sell the phone without getting the rebate, right? I'd just like the extra 50 bucks, you know?

I'm selling because I already have an activated phone and changed my mind about switching to the new one.

Thanks.

So even if I sent in the rebate form with all the required labels and crap, if I didn't activate the phone they would never grant me a rebate?

Thanks for your reply.

Yea, usually that's how it works.

This is because there is a form you must fill out. This form will require a 10 digit Verizon Wireless number in which the device is active on.
