Self educating myself vs school?

Well i have always been someone who has been taught better on my own and more willing to learn outside of school. I have decided to quit school and obtain my ged when i turn 19.I personally think school teaches you to much useless stuff that you will never need nor want to learn. I am going to read and get smarter as well as research stuff that i will need to know.I was just wondering if you think i could turn out smarter then someone who has been in school.I also think people have to much stress while there in school , and they don't want to learn so they just try and get everything out of the way as fast as they can.

I agree with you that the material covered in many of your classes may not seem to yield immediate benefits. However, school serves as a safe environment to learn how to learn and persevere through obstacles and distractions to meet goals. It also affords you the opportunity to be exposed to topics and personalities you might not otherwise have been exposed to, which can only serve to enrich your life and the lives of people around you. The stress and time-constraints will hopefully encourage you to learn stress and time management skills, which will help you survive in the competitive world outside of school.

Learning is a lifelong process of discovery and improvement. School is an important game that teaches and helps re-enforce skills that you can apply to effectively navigate this process. That being said, I don't believe that how smart you are is necessarily determined by whether or not you choose to play this game. I'm referring to schooling at all levels (e.g. college, professional schools).
