I have 2 ruptured disks (one budging), and a fractured vertebrae, all the result of an auto accident. I have had 2 selective nerve root blocks, and a faucet block. How long can I expect the injections to last, and will the pain I felt before come back? I'm just curious as to rather or not I will still need surgery. It's difficult to get much information out of the doctor. This is a Workers' Comp. case, and everyone seems to be very tight-lipped. Any info would be appreciated.

The length of time that you get relief from the injections varies from person to person. It's a crap shoot, but it's worth trying if it helps you avoid surgery. I have had injections that have given me 6 months of relief, and some haven't helped at all. You have to jump through the hoops before surgery is tried.

As my PM doc says, surgery is the final option, but it isn't always the right option...

You say you had the nerve block that didn't work? I had it done Monday & it'ss Wed & I'm getting the same pains back again I had before, I have a feeling it didn't work.
